Mary Lempert

Dr. Mary Lempert received her DVM from Purdue University in 2016 and has a passion for working with dogs, cats, reptiles, and especially, exotic companion mammals.

Dr. Lempert spent the first seven years of her veterinary career in Austin, TX at a practice that specialized in rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, and small rodents. Dr. Lempert moved back home to Indiana in 2023 and is thrilled to bring her exotics experience to All-Star.

In 2024, Dr. Lempert became board-certified in Exotic Companion Mammal Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. This means that Dr. Lempert mastered a multiyear-long rigorous application and examination process to become an exotic specialist. Dr. Lempert is one of two ECM specialists in Indiana.

Dr. Lempert has been working to promote rabbit welfare by advancing owner education and rabbit medicine since 2008. She has published articles in the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine and has presented her research at veterinary conferences. Dr. Lempert is a member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV) and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV).

Dr. Lempert's favorite part of being a veterinarian is meeting people who love their animal companions. Her medical interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, clinical pathology, and clinical research. She enjoys the challenge of complex medical and surgical cases, but most of all, she loves seeing sick animals return to happy, healthy pets.
